[2008-06-30] Grapefruit
Market has not been as tense as expected, even if volumes have remained moderate. The demand on the French market has continued to be moderate even if it has woken up a bit for SAR fruits (multiple line shift compete) and it has been very slow on the Northern Europe places. The very last Floridian stocks have been sold and the multiple line shift is now compete. European supply have relied on South hemisphere origins. The SAR volumes have begun its seasonal decrease and have remained under the average (-30%). Argentina arrivals have been unexpectedly higher than last week but cumulated arrivals have remained under the average (-19 %). Nevertheless, the situation has not enable operators to increase their prices. The SAR prices have remained stable and firm whereas they have dipped a little for Argentina fruits (but still at a good level: 13 % higher than the average). Moreover, some quality problems have been reported for some Argentinean fruits. Some stocks available for this origin.
