The market has remained well balanced and even slightly tense in some centres in northern Europe (Germany). Overall supply has remained moderate with short supplies of dollar fruits. The volumes shipped from Ecuador and Colombia were limited, approaching the averages for the season, while the deficit in Costa Rican fruits continued. In parallel, arrivals from the French West Indies have remained stable but still display a substantial 35% deficit in comparison with the average. Likewise, deliveries from Africa have remained stable while those from Surinam increased temporarily to 20% above the average. Demand remained satisfactory for the season and matched the volumes available. Continued cool weather in northern Europe and still limited competition from the season's fruits resulted in a good sales flow. However, the Italian and Russian markets suffered from very weak demand as a result of increased competition from the season's fruits. In this context, prices for fruits from all sources increased on all European markets except for Russia.
