The rainforests of the Congo Basin are a vital source of nutrition, income and medicines for both rural and urban populations in the region. Forest policy, however, concentrates largely on timber extraction, to the detriment of other resources. A new report from the Rainforest Foundation has evaluated the importance of NTFPs and recommends a multiple-use approach to forest management. 07/07/09
