The first Integrated Capture Information System (ICIS) requirements gathering meeting was held June 10-12, 2008 at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Rome, Italy. The meeting gathered together representatives from the fisheries and aquaculture community including several regional fishery bodies such as the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) together with WorldFish Center and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of the FAO.
