The European market has continued to worsen, in spite of a remaining quite good demand. The commercial week has been curtailed. However, the negative impact of the season fruit on banana consumption has remained very limited as the arrival of spring has been once again delayed (except for Spain). Nevertheless, the global deliveries have continued to develop. On the one hand, last weeks' stocks have been available in some countries. On the other hand, arrivals have continued to be higher than the average despite African volumes still noticeably in shortage.

The market has remained well directed. Demand has been regular and dynamic and the offer has remained in shortage. The Navelate campaign has significantly and early declined. Some traders have already ended the season. Deliveries of Valencia have increased only slowly owing to speculation (short harvest and early end of the Navelate season). Prices have registered a new increase at the production stage and have reached the highest level of the three last campaigns. In this context, Maroclate sales have remained lively and prices have registered a slight increase.

The European market displayed a distinct downward trend in Week 17. First, supply continued to be fairly ample for the season even though arrivals from Africa continued to decrease. But dollar shipments remained distinctly larger than average and those from the French West Indies reached a peak. Demand started to slow in some countries (in anticipation of a shortened trading Week 18 and the first impact of the increase in the supply of the season's fruits from Spain). This context has resulted in a fall in prices to various degrees on all the markets.

After a punctual drop week 16, the green supply has strongly increased and they have reached a level slightly higher than the average. The SAR exports are back to an early developing after a decrease due to rainfalls in week 16. Moreover, the Peru/Kenyan deliveries have also continued to progress. However, demand has been quite satisfactory because green fruits have broken more widely on the multiple market. Furthermore, the Hass shortage, has worsened (very few volumes from the southern hemisphere and decreasing exports from Spain). In this context green prices have remained stable.

The market has remained unchanged. Deliveries from Florida have significantly decreased and have remained in line with the seasonal trend. Demand has continued to be satisfactory and regular. Prices have remained stable and very firm. In this context, stocks have been moderate for all grade particularly for grade 48. The Mediterranean shortage has worsened and demand has remained quiet. Only one Israelian operator has remained on the market with significant volumes but still lower than last year. In the same time, campaign of other Mediterranean origins have been closed except for Spain.

The trend on the market has remained similar overall to that of week 15. Demand has remained satisfactory for Floridian fruits. Deliveries have continued to be larger than expected and have been higher than last year (+ 27%). Only few specialists have continued to receive normal volumes. Some stocks in grade 40 have been sell off thanks to promotional operations. Prices have been firmer than week 15 and have sometimes risen a little (grade 40). Demand has remained quiet for Mediterranean grapefruit. Global arrivals have gone on their downward trend.

The green market has slightly improved. Fuerte Peru deliveries have reached a peak and Kenyan supplies have remained stable. However, the global offer has been less significant than expected because of delays in SAR arrivals due to rainfalls. In this context, sales have been more fluent for all the green origins. Furthermore, some multiple programs have started with green avocado to face up to the Hass shortage. Prices have stabilized for all sizes. No significant stocks. The Hass market supply has been shorter than last week because of rainfalls in Spain in week 15.

The market has continued to tend down, with the come back, for the second week, of the green fruit supply to a level similar to the last season one. Deliveries from Peru have reached a peak, SAR supplies have continued to take off earlier than usual and volumes from Kenya have remained stable and above the average. Demand has not been fluent, but has waken up on a quite satisfactory way, especially for Peru and SAR (opening of some multiple lines, even in supermarkets used to work only with Hass).

Demand has continued to be regular and quite satisfactory in France, and has begun to improve in Northern Europe. Floridian traders have remained very confident, even if the last weeks exports have been higher than expected and in line with the last year ones. The market is getting more concentrated, and only few specialist have continued to receive normal volumes. Prices have increased for grade 48 and have been very firm for grade 40. Demand seems to have increase slightly for Mediterranean grapefruit.

After becoming fragile in Week 14, the market has displayed a distinct downward trend. All the same, demand has remained at a fairly good level. The weather has been cooler than normal for the season and still favourable for consumption, with competition from spring fruits remaining limited. However, arriving shipments have increased further, returning to a near-normal level in spite of the continued marked deficit in shipments from Costa Rica, a temporary dip in arrivals from Surinam and the beginning of a decrease in those from Africa.
