The staff from Seedling, the journal published by the organisation GRAIN, had pre-released the editorial from their July issue as a result of the high level conference that is presently being conducted at FAO (see our earlier post for more information on this conference).
The editorial argues that a huge change is required in order to improve our present situation: power needs to be moved away from international financial institutions and global development agencies and given to small-scale farmers; and to ensure they have a bigger voice in setting agricultural policy. Interrelated issues such as land, markets and farming practices also need to be addressed in order to make our farming and food systems more efficient, sustainable and healthier for all. Read more.
