Workshop on mainstreaming gender in forestry in Africa
FAO, in collaboration with the University of Ghana, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), is organising a workshop on Mainstreaming Gender in Forestry in Africa to be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra, Ghana, 12 – 13 November 2007.
The workshop is the final activity of a one year project within the FAO-Netherlands Partnership Programme (FNPP) that examined gender imbalances and responsibilities in the management and use of forest resources in 10 African countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, DRC, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Tanzania and Zambia).
The opening ceremony will be chaired by Dr. Mary Chinery-Hesse, Chief Advisor to H. E. the President of the Republic of Ghana. The opening remarks will be given by Mr. Edouard K. Tapsoba, Officer in Charge of the FAO Regional Office for Africa. A key-note address will be presented by Hon. Mrs. Esther Obeng Dampah, Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines of Ghana.
