HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (Policy)

The Human Resources Management Division (CSH) at FAO
has the role of developing and facilitating the implementation of
human resources policies and programmes and advising management
on strategies to ensure that the Organization is served by
competent and motivated staff. Under the direct supervision of
the Chief, HR Strategy, Policy and Planning Branch (CSHP), the
incumbent is responsible for assisting with the application and
interpretation of FAO’s Staff Regulations and
Rules, the Administrative Manual as well as policies and
procedures and for developing new HR policies. Specifically, to:
â–ª provide advice and support to managers and
staff on human resources related matters, particularly on the
interpretation and application of FAO's Staff Regulations and
Rules, the Administrative Manual as well as policies and
procedures; â–ª contribute to the development and
implementation of human resources policies and procedures;
â–ª respond to inquiries from counterparts in
other international organizations regarding
FAO’s rules and practices; ▪
draft and and circulate for comments policy papers and proposals
for modification to Staff Rules, the Administrative Manual as
well as current policies and procedures; compile final versions
for approval; â–ª review agreements relating to
human resources matters (e.g. agreements regarding the loan of
personnel); â–ª collect information and carry out
research in matters relating to HR policies and practices as
necessary through consultation with other CSH branches, client
departments/offices and other UN agencies; â–ª
perform other related duties as required.
