Pastoralism may be seen as at the margins of agriculture but the authors of Pastoralism and development in Africa show it is far from a marginal activity. Although focused on the Greater Horn of Africa, the circumstances described, and the options discussed offer many lessons for not only of how pastoralism should be seen and understood and the development offered in so-called 'marginal' areas but also in the more fertile heartlands of agricultural production. 05/07/12
