IWMI Vacancy : Irrigation Specialist
The appointee will be responsible for conducting research for evidence-based policy and management to improve the performance of irrigated agriculture. The scientist is expected to design and carry out research, and to communicate policy relevant results. To fill the role, we are seeking an outstanding individual with experience in irrigation who can lead IWMI's efforts to improve and revitalize irrigation. Travel in the region, particularly to Central Asia, India and Pakistan will be required.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Leading IWMI's research agenda to revitalize irrigation including the design and implementation of multidisciplinary research on technological innovations; changes in the governance of irrigation; improving the performance of existing irrigation systems; and adapting them to meet new challenges;
• Designing and overseeing implementation of research for on-farm low -cost irrigation technologies and management practices to enhance the productivity of land and water; and
• Interacting with key partners and stakeholders to identify, formulate and implement capacity building programs and projects to increase the uptake of research on improved water management technologies and practices.
