Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Agricultural Policy Support Service, and the immediate supervision of a Senior Agricultural Policy Officer will:
* conduct policy analysis work on agriculture, food security and rural development issues in the context of policy assistance to member countries;
* contribute to interdepartmental work on identification and analysis of emerging and priority policy issues;
* contribute to FAO’s field programme development;
* identify, formulate and backstop policy-relevant projects and programmes;
* undertake capacity building activities in related work areas targeted at FAO staff and external audiences;
* develop and maintain effective working relationships with FAO partners in the area of policy assistance;
* contribute to the monitoring of country policies and strategies and the preparation of lessons learned and good practices;
* support, when required, policy work conducted by policy officers in the decentralized offices;
* perform other related duties as required.
