Reforming fisheries and aquaculture in Asia-Pacific

Hosted by the Department of Fisheries of Malaysia, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Malaysia, the 29th Session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) will held in Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 23 August 2006.
The high level meeting aims to reshape fisheries policy in the region and underpin decision making for reforming fishery and aquaculture. During this 3 day meeting they will discuss and endorse recommendations made during the Regional Consultative Forum Meeting (RCFM) which was held earlier from 16 to 19 August 2006 at Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
APFIC has a more than 50-years history and is an Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regional body that acts as consultative forum working in partnership with other regional organizations and members. Membership consists of Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Viet Nam, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America.
