The recent tsunami disaster has badly affected the Aceh province of northern Sumatra but has left the rest of Indonesia unscathed and the country's economic growth forecast remains robust. Rice is the main subsistence crop but 40 per cent of domestic food supplies comes from home gardens managed by women. Cash crops include cocoa, coffee, copra, palm oil, groundnuts, rubber, soybeans, sugar, tea and tobacco. 03/07/09
