Rural Sociologist (Gender and Rural Development Statistics)
Under the general supervision of the Director, ESW and as member of one or more task teams, will:
lead the development and analysis of sex-disaggregated agriculture and rural development data bases, especially in the context of WCA, FAOSTAT and the CountrySTAT Project as appropriate;
provide technical guidance and support to Member Countries in Gender and Agricultural Statistics, especially within the framework of the World Programme for the Agricultural Census (WCA);
develop, test and utilize methodological guidelines and tools in the production and analysis of sex-disaggregated data;
liaise with other FAO technical units to enhance their capacity to address gender dimensions in their work;
contribute to the incorporation of Rural Gender Equality issues, especially in the area of sex-disaggregated data, into FAO planning frameworks and UN policies and joint programmes for food security, agriculture and rural development;
develop training programmes on gender analysis;
develop fund raising strategies for gender related projects;
perform other related duties as required.
