Policy Analyst (Gender)

Under the overall supervision of the Principal Adviser, ESW, and as a member of one or more Task Teams, will contribute to the work programme related to “Gender equity in access to resources, goods, services and decision-making in rural areas”. Specifically to:
contribute to analytical studies and assessments of the causal relationships, levels of and trends in gender equality in food and agriculture, with particular attention to gender inequalities in access to land and other productive resources;
support government efforts to formulate agriculture and rural development policies and programmes that are responsive to the differentiated needs and aspirations of women, men and vulnerable populations;
liaise and partner with other UN agencies to promote gender equality within national planning frameworks, particularly within the context of the One-UN pilots and UN Joint Programmes;
provide support to FAO’s work on gender mainstreaming by collecting, analyzing and presenting quantitative and qualitative information on gender inequalities in food and agriculture;
participate in the preparation, editing, production, distribution and monitoring of FAO knowledge products related to gender equality, including updating and maintaining the Gender and Land Database and supporting mechanisms for social dialogue and advocacy on rural gender equality and social equity at national and international levels;
liaise with other Divisions and Departments in FAO and partner organizations collaborating with FAO in others areas of the Division’s mandate (e.g. gender mainstreaming, social equity, rural employment, rural institutions, and poverty alleviation);
perform other related duties as required.
