Natural Resources Officer (Bioenergy)

Under the overall supervision of the Director, NRC,
and technical supervision of the Senior Bioenergy Group
Coordinator, and in consultation with relevant units will:
supervise FAO inputs and act as the
Organization’s technical focal point for the
Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) and the Roundtable on
Sustainable Bioenergy (RSB); develop and/or supervise, as
appropriate, normative documents related to bioenergy, in
collaboration with other relevant units, including those received
from decentralised offices; prepare technical briefing notes and
comments related to bioenergy, as appropriate; participate in
international events related to bioenergy; contribute to the
implementation and management of the
Division’s bioenergy programme of work;
conduct and/or substantially contribute information and inputs to
the feasibility studies of the bioenergy programme of work;
maintain contact and efficient working relations with partner
institutions and participants in the consultative processes
relevant to FAO’s bioenergy programme, with an
overall focus towards long-term collaboration between national
institutions and specialized organizations in other countries;
promote and maintain close collaboration with FAO colleagues
whose technical skills are relevant to the
Organization’s programme on bioenergy; prepare
terms of reference for the identification of consultants related
to FAO’s programme on bioenergy, and
participate in their selection process; provide advice to Member
Countries and national institutions in the field of bioenergy,
through support to projects and/or short term advice/attendance
at relevant events; perform other related duties as
required.
