HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (Organizational Design)
The Human Resources Management Division (CSH) at FAO
has the role of developing and facilitating the implementation of
human resources policies and programmes and advising management
on strategies to ensure that the Organization is served by
competent and motivated staff. The Organizational Design and
Position Management Branch (CSHE) is one of six branches within
CSH. CSHE provides advice and service to managers on
organizational structures and jobs and ensures the application of
job classification standards and principles. Under the general
supervision of the Chief, CSHE the incumbent will provide advice
and assistance on job and organizational design, as well as
position management to assigned departments and will provide
supervisory and technical guidance to a small team in all phases
of their work. Specifically to: • advise
managers on the best approach in meeting their organizational and
structural requirements; provide guidance in the interpretation
and application of related policies and promote awareness,
understanding and support for job classification and standards;
• identify, analyse and make recommendations on
the design of jobs and competencies; lead related projects;
• conduct organizational studies, structural,
job and/or competency reviews; prepare standards and reports and
recommendations following such reviews; •
propose and prepare innovative policies, procedures applicable to
job and organizational design for general use across the
organization (i.e. post descriptions, generic job profiles,
competency profiles, etc.) in consultation with client
departments; • solve complex or unprecedented
cases requiring interpretations of Human Resources Management
(HRM) policies and practices; • keep abreast of
organizational and job design techniques, policies and best
practices and related technological tools in the private and
public sectors and determine how these might be adapted to meet
the HRM needs of the organization; • perform
other related duties as required.
