Jubilee conference: the Future of Family Farming
posted by Karen HampsonThere is a buzz in the ILEIA office today as we are finalizing preparations for our Jubilee conference tomorrow. More than 200 participants have registered to join us in The Hague, and we are doing all we can to make sure the day is a success. Most of our magazine partners are arriving today, leaving behind the warmth of Dakar, Rio de Janeiro and Denpasar (among other places!). They will find The Netherlands covered in frost, but are assured of a warm welcome from us. Meanwhile, we are looking forward to hearing news first-hand from Copenhagen from Camilla Toulmin, Director of IIED, and James Nguo, Director of the Arid Lands Information Network (ILEIA's newest partner). Camilla will kick off the programme tomorrow, looking at Copenhagen's implications for family farming. Presentations and discussions in the morning will be followed in the afternoon with three regional workshops, looking at issues surrounding family farming in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The day will finish with the launch of the new look magazine. For now I can't reveal the details, except to say we have a new name, a new look and new content. We have been working hard over the last year to conceptualise and then bring to paper this new magazine. Tomorrow is a very exciting day for the team. Don't worry if you can't join us, I will post highlights of presentations and discussions on the blog over the next week. And look out for the internet launch of the new magazine later this week! You will see it here first!
