Relief gaps spread as Haitians flee capital
After weeks of delays and bottlenecks, the international relief effort in Port-au-Prince is becoming somewhat routine. People line up for food and water daily, and roads are clogged with trucks and military vehicles. (..) The U.N.'s World Food Program says it has been focusing on Port-au-Prince but is trying to help the outskirts. The program says it has distributed food to 1.6 million people and counting. "We have continued to scale-up deliveries in outlying areas," said Marcus Prior, a WFP spokesman. "In other places, we've been able to do spot deliveries to institutions like hospitals and orphanages, but it's been extremely difficult to get a clear picture of where people have moved to and what the needs are."
