Macha, in southern Zambia, is a place where internet and agriculture are coming together to help the local community reach its potential. Most people here are subsistence farmers, and problems in the community include bad roads, limited electricity, and poor health facilities. However, in 2003, community members joined together to build a wireless network to connect Macha to the internet. The project is run by local community members, and by providing access to information and education, as well as a connection to people outside of the community, it is helping to develop and retail local talent.
